Day of the Restoration of Lithuanian State commemorated in Yerevan with the Martynas Levickis concert
On 15 February 2016, at the Arno Babajanyan Philharmonic Concert Hall (Yerevan, Armenia), the concert of the Lithuanian musician Martynas Levickis dedicated to commemorate the 98th Anniversary of the Re-Establishment of the Lithuanian State took place.
Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Armenia Erikas Petrikas had greeted the audience and reminded to all gathered that the 16 February 1918 is a day of great significance to all Lithuanians, and it can be named as a destiny-changing event on the path of building of the Lithuanian State. The Act of Independence of Lithuania concluded and signed on that day by twenty prominent Lithuanians, elected by the people to the Council of Lithuania, proclaiming the restoration of an independent State of Lithuania, governed by democratic principles, with Vilnius as its capital. Ambassador Erikas Petrikas noted that the Act of Independence and the signatories of the Act, who remained forever faithful to the values of liberty, paved a solid way to the Lithuanian statehood based on the values of democracy, justice and freedom.
After the extending great thanks to the Armenian Ministry of Culture, the Arno Babajanyan concert hall and the Lithuanian sponsors, Ambassador Erikas Petrikas joyfully presented Mr Martynas Levickis, young but outstanding Lithuanian accordion virtuoso, laureate and prize-winner of more than 30 competitions, for the 1st time on the Armenian stage. During his vital performance Martynas Levickis, currently working with the famous European chamber orchestras and prominent conductors, had presented the plays and compositions of the classic and modern composers, variations on the themes of Lithuanian folk and Armenian songs in an extraordinary highly artistic and professional manner.
At the reception guests were invited to taste the Lithuanian products brought by the Lithuanian companies “Klaipėdos mėsinė”, “Rokiškio sūris” and “Kalnapilio-Tauro grupė”.
At the concert Armenian Minister of Culture Mrs. Hasmik Poghosyan as well as other prominent representatives of the Armenian political, cultural, art society, media, members of the diplomatic corps residing in Yerevan took part.
