The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius congratulated his Turkish counterpart - the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu - on the 94th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Turkey and wished prosperity and well-being to the whole country and its people.
In his congratulatory letter the Minister emphasized the importance of the countries' partnership in the NATO as well as their cooperation aimed at strengthening regional security and stability. “We support the country’s efforts to safeguard democratic values, basic freedoms, human rights and the rule of law,” Linkevičius wrote. He also expressed his hopes for strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between both countries in different areas in the future.
Lithuania is prepared to help Turkey in its pursuit of joining the European Union. Turkey remains an important EU partner in solving issues related to migration, the fight against terrorism and security.
