Linkevičius: Hospice’s activity sets a good example of meaningful cooperation between Lithuania and Poland
Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius together with the Ambassador of Poland to Lithuania Urszula Doroszewska visited the Blessed Father Michael Sopoćko Hospice.
“Your noble and absolutely necessary mission to help those patients who are terminally ill and suffer the most sets another good and meaningful example of cooperation between Lithuania and Poland,” said the head of Lithuania’s diplomacy.
When addressing Sister Michaela Rak, the supervisor of the hospice, and the entire community of this institution, Lithuania’s Foreign Minister thanked them for their sacrifice.
According to Linkevičius, it is symbolic that the hospice’s activities are being developed in Vilnius, the city, where people from many different cultures have coexisted for centuries, the ‘City of Mercy’.
The Goodwill Ambassadors – Benediktas Vanagas and Sebastian Rozwadowski – also visited the hospice together with the Minister and the Polish Ambassador. The members of the Lithuanian team competing in the Dakar Rally have been spreading the message about the idea and mission of the hospice for two years already.
The hospice is the first institution in Lithuania that provides cancer care gratis.
