Lithuanian writer, publicist, public figure and translator Maryte Kontrimaite passes away
On Saturday, 16.04.2016, in Lithuania has sadly passed away one of the brightest symbols of Lithuanian-Armenian friendship Maryte Kontrimaite. The Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Armenia expresses the deepest and sincerest condolences to the family and relatives of Maryte Kontrimaite.
Maryte Kontrimaite carried out public activities after the earthquake in Spitak in 1988 and during the war in Karabakh.
In 2015 The Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan awarded Lithuanian writer, publicist, public figure and translator Maryte Kontrimaite with “St. Grigor Lusavorich” medal and a Certificate of Honour from the Ministry of Culture for spreading Armenian literature abroad and introducing its translations to the Lithuanian readers as well as for significant contribution in Armenian-Lithuanian literary translation.
