13 January for Lithuanians

On 13 January Lithuanian Ambassador H.E. Mr Erikas Petrikas discussed the importance of events that took place on 13 January 25 years ago for Lithuanian contemporary history on Armenian HaykakanTV.

The Ambassador stressed that this was the most important Lithuanian modern history date. Lithuanian state and its citizens defended its independence that day - while singing and standing in front of the tanks had defeated aggression and defended free Lithuania: “The will and the desire to be free celebrated victory and on 13 January 1991 Lithuanian people confirmed once more that they were firmly determined to preserve Independence as restored on 11 March 1990.”

Lithuanian Embassy in Yerevan traditionally - like all Lithuania –  lit memory candles in the windows of the Embassy to commemorate 13 January and thus remember the dramatic days and those who stood up for freedom of the country and were killed.
