A consignment of 27,500 doses of EU-made "AstraZeneca" vaccines donated by Lithuania was oficially handed over to Armenia

On 3 September, Lithuanian Ambassador to Armenia Inga Stanytė-Toločkienė officially handed over the consignment of 27,500 doses of the EU-made "AstraZeneca" vaccines, donated by Lithuania to Armenia  in mid-August, to the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of Armenia.

“We strongly believe that access to safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines is crucial measure in combating the pandemics, therefore we are very glad to extend a helping hand to our Armenian friends in times of need“, - said the Ambassador.

The project was implemented as part of the Team Europe initiative, activating EU Civil Protection Mechanism to support the vaccine transportation process.

This is the third package of COVID-19 related support by Lithuania to Armenia, followed by the donation of personal protective equipment in May 2020 and a medical mission that took place in June-July last year.

A significant part of the vaccine donation is already on its way to the regions of Armenia.
