Armenian translation of M. Zingeris‘s novel "I sat on Stalin's lap" presented in Yerevan

On 30 November, chargé d‘affaires of the Embassy Vismantė Dailidėnaitė and First Secretary Gitana Razaliūnienė participated in the event organized by the Lithuanian community of Armenia, where the Armenian translation of the novel "I sat on Stalin's lap" by the Lithuanian writer Markas Zingeris was presented at the Museum of Literature and Art of Armenia.

The book was translated by the translator, writer Felix Bakhchinyan and the chairwoman of the Lithuanian community Olga Arzumanian.

“This translation is of significant importance, as both countries - Armenia and Lithuania - share a similar fate of history, our nations are connected by the wounds inflicted by the Soviet regime that have not healed until now. It is therefore inevitable that this translation becomes another thread connecting Armenia and Lithuania, which will help the people of our nations to get even closer through literary discoveries“, - said Vismantė Dailidėnaitė during the welcoming remarks.

M. Zingeris is a recognized Lithuanian writer, awarded the Order of the Knight's Cross, and the novel itself, written in 2017, has won prestigious prizes. This translation is the first translation of the book into a foreign language.
