Documentary about French author Romain Gary "A Promise Delivered. Secrets of Vilnius" presented to the public of Yerevan
On the 23 March 2016, at the Komitas Museum-Institute in Yerevan (Armenia) the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Armenia on the occasion of the Francophonie days had presented Edita Mildažytė‘s documentary "A Promise Delivered. Secrets of Vilnius“ about famous French author and diplomat Romain Gary.
At the beginning of the event the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania Erikas Petrikas had invited everyone to pay respect to the victims of the recent terror acts in Brussels with the minute of silence.
While presenting the documentary "A Promise Delivered. Secrets of Vilnius" Ambassador Erikas Petrikas had proudly noted that Romain Gary, one of the most famous and readable XX century French language authors, double winner of the Goncourt prize, diplomat and war veteran, was born in Vilnius, Lithuania. The documentary "A Promise Delivered. Secrets of Vilnius" presents the Romain Gary‘s childhood and his family life in the capital of Lithuania, memories of which are colorfully reflected in the books of author. The documents from the Lithuanian and French archives together with the comments of the current literature critics and historians give a great opportunity to the viewer of the “A Promise Delivered. Secrets of Vilnius" to get acquainted with the extraordinary and mystique personality of Romain Gary.
At the screening of the "A Promise Delivered. Secrets of Vilnius" the Armenian Vice-Minister of Culture Mr. Nerses Ter-Vardanyan, representatives of the Armenian cultural and art society, members of the diplomatic corps residing in Yerevan took part.
