Lecture delivered by philosopher Algis Mickūnas took place in Yerevan

On 1 December, a lecture delivered by philosopher Algis Mickūnas took place in Yerevan. During the lecture, A. Mickūnas shared insights about war as a phenomenon from a philosophical perspective, touched on the topics of Russia’s war in Ukraine and the Nagorno Karabakh war.

The event was attended by diplomats of countries accredited to Armenia, representatives of Armenian civil society, as well as Lithuanian and Ukrainian communities.

A. Mickūnas is one of the most prominent philosophers of the Lithuanian diaspora, professor emeritus at the Ohio University (USA), recognized scientist, pedagogue, phenomenologist, writer, author of numerous books and articles. His research field includes phenomenology, cosmology, sociology, history, political philosophy, anthropology, comparative studies of Western and Eastern civilization. It is important to note that A. Mickūnas understands the problems of war not only as a philosopher, he is also a veteran of the Korean War.

The professor also gave a lecture on the concept of autocracy and democracy to the students of the American University of Armenia. Topics that are of particular relevance for the region attracted great interest and discussions among listeners.
