Lithuanian and Armenian Deputy Foreign Ministers discussed development of bilateral and EU-Armenia relations
On 6 May, Deputy Foreign Minister of Lithuania Mantas Adomėnas met with Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Paruyr Hovhannisyan, who was visiting Vilnius. The meeting focused on the development of bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, Deputy Minister M. Adomėnas noted the growing volume of bilateral trade, emphasizing the possibilities for further development of bilateral economic relations.
The meeting discussed the strengthening of relations between the European Union (EU) and Armenia. M. Adomėnas emphasized the importance of further democratic reforms in Armenia, for which the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) provides a solid basis.
The Deputy Ministers of Lithuania and Armenia discussed the security situation in the South Caucasus region, Russia's aggression against Ukraine and other relevant issues of the international agenda. Deputy Minister M. Adomėnas also emphasized the EU's support for the efforts to normalize relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and the EU's readiness to provide technical expertise in the field of delimitation and demarcation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. The conversation highlighted the role of Charles Michel, President of the European Council, in mediating between the leaders of the countries, aiming for the stable and prosperous development of the region.
