Lithuanian-Armenian cooperation in the field of education, science, culture and sports discussed

On September 24, Lithuanian Ambassador to Armenia Inga Stanytė-Toločkienė met with Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Arayik Harutyunyan to discuss cooperation possibilities in the fields of education, science, culture and sports, opportunities for exchanging experiences using bilateral or EU instruments.

The Ambassador emphasized that Lithuania appreciates and supports the democratic transformation that has taken place in Armenia and the government's efforts to consolidate its results through ambitious reforms, including in the field of education and science.
I. Stanytė-Toločkienė was pleased with the successful cooperation between Lithuania and Armenia in the field of culture, in particular for the achievements of Asmik Grigoryan, the opera soloist who made Lithuania and Armenia famous in the world.
 
Attention was drawn to the project implemented by the Lithuanian Embassy in Armenia - the J. Baltrušaitis Jr. Scholarship, which is awarded annually to the best student of the Armenian National University of Architecture and Construction.
 
The Ambassador also noted the opportunity to implement projects, which would contribute to the mitigation of the effects of climate change. In the near future, Lithuania plans to install solar panels in two schools in Armenia.
 
Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports A. Harutyunyan highly appreciated the cooperation with Lithuania. The Minister emphasized that co-operation with Lithuania, which had undergone a similar period of transformation, would be very beneficial for Armenia.
