Lithuanian medical and experts team in Armenia to support in fighting COVID-19
On June 19, a group of 11 Lithuanian medics and experts arrived in Yerevan on a special flight to assist Armenian colleagues in the fight against COVID-19. The mission will last 14 days. 1,5 tons of medical equipment and supplies will be used by the medical workers during the mission and later donated to Armenian healthcare institutions. Also 30,000 PCR tests have been brought.
8 medical professionals will provide medical assistance to COVID-19 patients at two hospitals in Yerevan. The experts will share the best practice of Lithuanian experience on organizational-logistical aspects of managing COVID-19 crisis.
The costs of the mission are shared between the Government of Lithuania, as main financer, and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, with a contribution of around 50 000 euros. Part of transportation costs is covered via European Union civil protection instrument.
