Lithuanian Poetry Spring 2015 in Yerevan
On 22 May 2015 the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania invited to Lithuanian Poetry Spring in Yerevan as a part of Europe days in Armenia.
The international poetry festival „Poetry Spring 2015“takes place in Lithuania every year since 1965. The Poetry is celebrated in 134 events in Lithuania and in 7 countries abroad this year. The Lithuanian Poetry Spring came to Armenia for the very first time.
The event was organised together with the Lithuanian and Armenian Writers Unions and a kind assistance of prof. Vidas Kavaliauskas, the head of the Lithuanian Culture and Language Institute in Tbilisi.
Three Lithuanian poets Antanas A. Jonynas, Liutauras Degėsys and Gytis Norvilas read their poems in Lithuanian, Armenian, Russian and English. Armenian writer and translator Felix B. Bakhchinyan greeted all lovers of poetry and read the poems in Armenian. Famous Lithuanian-Armenian translator and poet herself Mrs Marytė Kontrimaitė kindly contributed to the event and translated some verses to Armenian language.
