Lithuanian solar energy modules installed in Shirak region

On June 16, Lithuanian Ambassador Inga Stanytė-Toločkienė together with Anna Mazmanyan, Deputy Minister of Environment of Armenia, participated at the closing ceremony of the installation of Lithuanian solar energy modules and experience sharing project at Getk School of Shirak region.

“Lithuania’s cooperation with Shirak region goes back to the times of Spitak earthquake in 1988 when Lithuanian construction companies helped local communities to build schools and Lithuanian resort towns received Armenian children for summer vacation from the most affected areas. Therefore, I am very glad that we continue contributing to the development of the region with tangible projects. For the future we have foreseen two more initiatives in Shirak,” – said Lithuanian Ambassador.

The ceremony was also attended by representatives of Department of Education, Culture and Sports of Shirak Regional Administration, representatives of Lithuanian project implementers company “Solet Technics“ and Armenian project partners “OHM Energy Solutions”, Getk School  and schoolchildren.

Within the project solar energy modules were installed on the roof of the school, providing total capacity of 30 kW. The funding for the project was provided by the Environmental Projects Management Agency under the Ministry of Environment of Lithuania, from Climate change programme.
