Screening of the movie "Mariupol" took place in Yerevan
On 7 July, the Embassies of Lithuania, Ukraine and Poland - the Lublin triangle - held a screening of the documentary "Mariupolis" by Mantas Kvedaravičius in the cinema hall of the Union of Armenian Cinematographers in Yerevan.
Ambassador I. Stanytė-Toločkienė, on behalf of the Embassies of the states of the Lublin triangle, thanked those who gathered to honour the bright memory of Lithuanian film director Mantas Kvedaravičius and invited them to quietly stop for the moment to think about the director and human being who is not among us anymore, as well as the city who does not exist anymore either – at least the way it used to. “The memory of M. Kvedaravičius lives on through the testimony of his works and his soul will eternally rest in this city of broken dreams, yet hopeful fates”, said the Ambassador.
“We wish to attract everyone’s attention – once again – to the war that has been going on for more than 130 days – 130 days of losses, suffering, sorrow, but also of unbreakable hope and will to live. The fight for Europe’s future and democratic values, for freedom of Ukraine, but also of other countries - Lithuania, Armenia among them - is being fought by brave men and women in the streets of Ukraine. Russia's unprovoked and unjustified military aggression against Ukraine once again reaffirmed the need for the unity of countries that are sincere believers in democracy, rule of law and fundamental human values. Nothing can be more painful than losing the country’s statehood, and our nations know the price of it too well”, said the Ambassador.
The event was also attended by ambassadors and diplomats of countries accredited to Armenia, representatives of Armenian civil society, as well as Lithuanian, Ukrainian and Polish communities.
