SHARUNAS MARCHYULENIS'S VISIT TO ARMENIA

According to the proposal of the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania in the Republic of Armenia the legendary Lithuanian basketball player, the champion of the Olympic Games Sharunas Marchiulionis became the first guest of the Great Champions project starting at the initiative of the Mediamax Company with support of the VivaCell-MTS company. "After finding independence of Lithuania, Sharunas was the first who founded Basketball Academy in the country.   Certainly, there was very strong competition. For developing basketball in Lithuania, he placed emphasis on training of children", - "Never give up, always think that you will win",- told at conference the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania in the Republic of Armenia Erikas Petrikas.   Sharunas Marchiulionis shared a formula of the success with participants of conference:   "I am glad to be in Armenia and to participate in such important project.   For me it is important that we could show the way to children that which conducts to basketball development.   To be active and to play sports - very important for children", - the legendary basketball player told.  Within visit to Yerevan Sharunas Marchiulionis and the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania in the Republic of Armenia Erikas Petrikas met the Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Gabriel Ghazaryan and the General Secretary of National Olympic Committee and the Head of Federation of Basketball of Armenia Hrachya Rostomyan. During the meeting, the Vice-Chairman of the National Assembly Eduard Sharmazanov pleasantly surprised Marchiulionis with high awareness on basketball. Marchiulionis reported that next day will meet students of schools of basketball in Armenia and will provide trainings. During a meeting also discussed the questions connected to development of Armenian - Lithuanian cooperation in cultural and sport areas. Within visit to Armenia Sharunas Marchiulionis also carried out a master class for more than 140 Armenian boys and girls from Yerevan, Gyumri and Artik. Besides, at Moscow Cinema Theater "The Other Dream Team" took place movie screening about a phenomenon of the Lithuanian basketball after which the audience could ask questions Sharunas Marchiulionis.
