Sing and perform on the 1st Street Music’s Day in Yerevan city!
The Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Armenia for the 1st time brings to Yerevan the Street Music's Day (SMD), a joyful musical tradition from Lithuania, when every fan of music is invited to sing and perform on the streets of the beloved city. This year the Lithuanian SMD will celebrate its 10th anniversary where the 1st Armenian SMD will be a part of activities dedicated to the Europe Day Month 2016.
The idea of the Street Music's Day born in the head of the popular Lithuanian musician Andrius Mamontovas a decade ago, is very simple itself – anyone who can sing, perform or play an instrument – no matter if he or she does that for himself/herself at home, in a circle of friends or on the stage, no matter whether one can play several accords or the whole “Bohemian rhapsody” and more, everyone is invited to participate at the SMD and contribute with their performances during the day. The SMD is the day presenting everyone a unique opportunity to show up as a musicians but as well to experience new musical adventures and to find the unexpected musical discoveries around each corner, each street or yard of the city.
Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania in Armenia Erikas Petrikas expresses his hope that the idea of the Street Music’s Day will find its path to the hearts of all musical Armenians and will become a beautiful tradition in Armenia as well contributing to the larger creativity and expression of individual as well to broader sense of community and openness.
Interested ones are encouraged to register online in advance via the official SMD site (http://gmd.lt/en) indicating the preferred time and location of their performance in the exact street of Yerevan with the some additional information about their band/music genre etc.
On the 21st May from 16:00 to 20:00 all registered musicians are welcome to come and play, sing or perform the musical repertoires of their choice at the indicated points in the center of Yerevan city, incl. Northern Av., Opera Sq., Ch. Aznavour sq, bridge to the Ch. Aznavour sq. For the listeners and the fans of the music the leaflets with the maps of the exact points of performances and list of performers will be disseminated in Yerevan one week before the event – so look out for our volunteers in the central streets of Yerevan!
The SMD will be finalized the same day with the Grand Closing Concert at the Ch. Aznavour sq., from 20:00 where Lithuanian band 4FUN together with the famous Armenian musicians such as Levon Malkhasyan, Yelena Yerevan, Hayko, Dixin’ Yerevan, Nara, Kamo Seyranyan, Aramo and Ema Petrosyan, Arsen Grigoryan and other who will play their best pieces of music to the public.
