Songs by J. Didžiulis were played in the air during the first direct flight from Yerevan to Vilnius

On 19 December, the staff of the Lithuanian Embassy in Armenia participated in the inauguration ceremony of the first direct Yerevan-Vilnius air connection at Yerevan Zvartnots International Airport.

“I am very glad that Vilnius and Yerevan have finally been connected by direct flights, crowning this year, special for bilateral relations, when we celebrated the 30th anniversary of Lithuanian-Armenian mutual recognition and diplomatic relations. I very much hope that direct flights will strengthen the ties between our countries, facilitate bilateral cooperation, and contribute to the development of economic, business and tourism relations. Finally, it will help to get to know and understand each other better, looking much deeper than the existing images or stereotypes”, said the Lithuanian Ambassador I. Stanytė-Toločkienė, commenting on the historical event.

During the ceremony, the Embassy staff distributed symbolic souvenirs to the first travelers flying directly from Yerevan to Vilnius, singer Jurgis Didžiulis met the passengers at the gate and accompanied them to the plane with the music, and made a musical performance for the passengers and crew as soon as the plane crossed the Lithuanian airspace. Congratulating the first travelers on their arrival in Lithuania, J. Didžiulis performed the famous song “Welcome to Lithuania”.

Currently, two weekly flights Vilnius-Yerevan-Vilnius are planned by Wizz Air carrier.

The Lithuanian Embassy would like to thank the administrations of Armenia’s Civil Aviation Committee and Zvartnots International Airport, singer J. Didžiulis, Wizz Air carrier, and the news website “15min” for a smooth cooperation in contributing to the implementation of the idea.
