Support for Armenia’s European Aspirations Expressed During a Joint Visit of Lithuanian and French Representatives
On 14 April in Yerevan, the Vice‑Minister of Foreign Affairs Audra Plepytė participated in a trilateral meeting with Armenian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vahan Kostanyan and French Minister Delegate for European Affairs Benjamin Haddad. During the visit, the Vice‑Minister also visited the European Union (EU) Delegation in Yerevan and the headquarters of the EU Mission in Armenia (EUMA) in Yeghegnadzor, where she was received by the newly appointed Head of Mission Satu Koivu and met with two Lithuanian experts serving in the mission.
The meetings focused on the deepening EU–Armenia cooperation and preparations for high‑level events to be held in Yerevan in May 2026, namely the EU–Armenia Summit and the European Political Community (EPC) Summit.
The Vice‑Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed the EU–Armenia Strategic Agenda, signed in December 2025, and the intensive work undertaken by Armenia in implementing the visa liberalisation action plan. “These bilateral agreements will not only allow us to further deepen our cooperation and open up new opportunities, but will also contribute to strengthening Armenia’s institutional capacities and building closer ties between the EU and Armenian societies,” the Vice‑Minister noted.
During the visit, progress in the Armenia–Azerbaijan peace negotiations was also welcomed. Lithuania and the EU expressed their support for a sustainable and long‑term solution to the conflict, which would open new opportunities for regional cooperation and lay the groundwork for continued development, as well as a stable and secure environment.
