THE 300TH ANNIVERSARY OF KRISTIONAS DONELAITIS

Literary-musical evening was held on the occasion of 300th anniversary of Kristionas Donelaitis on September 25 at the National Gallery of Armenia. Guests of the evening were Minister of Culture Mrs. Hasmik Poghosyan, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly, members of parliament, representatives of the Armenian culture, as well as friends of Lithuania. The publicationsof the poem 'The Seasons' for the past 200 year sin 14 languages were exposed all over the hall. Ambassadors andculturalfigures performed thefirst linesof the poemin 14 languages and translator and writer Felix Bakhchinyan introduced a newtranslation of the poem in the Armenian language. Laureate of the National Prize of Culture and Arts of Lithuania, poet Vladas Brazhyunas and composer and performer Yurgita Mezhelayte were guests and host of the evening. YurgitaMezhelayte sang excerpts from works of Ludwig Reza and Christian Bartsch, bringing togetherthe words spoken 300 years ago with the sound of folk music of Minor Lithuania.
