The Lithuanian Ambassador to Armenia visited the school built by Lithuanian construction workers in Artik

On February 20, Ambassador Inga Stanytė-Toločkienė visited the 8th elementary school in Artik, built by the Lithuanian construction workers after the 1988 Spitak earthquake. Aside from school a large part of the Artik city was also rebuilt by Lithuanian construction company “Lietarmėnstatyba”, established to assist Armenians after the earthquake.

Ambassador expressed her gratefulness for Lithuanian builders and noted that Armenian authorities have the primary responsibility for implementing reforms and improving the quality peoples’ life. She also stressed that democratic transformation in Armenia provides a good opportunity to share Lithuania's reform experience and closer cooperation between our countries will enable Lithuania to become a part of the Armenian success story.


During her visit to the Shirak Province, the Ambassador also met witհ the Mayor of Artik Mkhitar Varagyan, the Governor of the Shirak Province Tigran Petrosyan and discussed the prospects for the development of the Shirak region and sharing of Lithuania's experience, especially in the areas of sustainable regional development, tourism and renewable energy.
